Carol Samson Warzel
My childhood memories consist of images and events that encompass light, shapes, texture, and color. As a child, I would watch the clouds forming into people, animals, or wherever my imagination would take me. Watching insects working, or the way the light streamed through a stained glass window and changed at different times of the day were all part of my exploration of this wondrous planet that we live on. To this day, my inspiration in art comes from nature and what is around my everyday life.
I loved to draw with my Dad and my parents perpetuated my love for art, having me take drawing and painting lessons with working artists at a young age. My background was in Commercial Art but I was continually drawn to the fine arts, studying art history and portraiture classes. Delving into egg tempera, encaustic, oils, charcoal, pen and ink, colored pencils with magic markers and exploring many different styles from different historical periods, such as expressionism, impressionistic art, Surrealism, Pop art, photorealism and more.
The moment that I touched clay, I felt as if I had done it before and I am continually impassioned by the infinite possibilities of this medium. My biggest fear is that I will run out of time on this earth to fully explore many of these possibilities. As with my education in painting and drawing, I have had the opportunity to learn from outstanding ceramic artists and continue to learn from them to this day.
